What’s unique (besides being a 14" rim) about this tire/wheel combination from my ‘74 Alfa Spyder compared to about any car you see on the street today?.....

Not many 4-lug bolt patterns around these days.

Most cars I see have the wheels held on by something other than rust?

Is this one from back in the day when they did left and right handed th reads on the studs, depending on the side of the car?

Are you referring to wheel bolts instead of studs and nuts?

No idea but I do love me some Cromodora wheels.

Remarkably I haven’t taken the wheels off in 30 years either so I don’t know if they are bolts or nuts. The old Phoenix Stahlflex tires wore like iron but it was time to replace them.

195 is pretty wide for a 14" diameter.

WINNER!!!!!!!!
I didn’t know it either till I bought the new tires and they told me the surprise. Fortunately my mechanic friend is older than me so he knows something about tire inner tubes .....
T he rims require tubes. N o choice to run without them as there is no lip on the rim. He only found three new tubes in town, the 4th had to come by UPS.
Here’s a picture of my ‘74 Alfa from about 15 years ago. Remarkably, that is only about 100 gallons of gas ago for this car.....

Alfa still running tubes in the 70's... how very Italian of them. If the car had been from 1954 I might have suspected tubes.

Good point, I bought it from an autocrosser and that is the size it had when I got it. I am not interested in 165/8 0/14's. The car is happy with that size so I am keeping them

I think most Alfas should have come with Pirelli Cinturato CA67s as standard from the late 60s if not sooner before moving on to CN36s . It was kind of a selling point.

Weird that the rims require tubes. I have the original wheels on my ‘73 CL450 but am running tubeless tires.

I’ve learned that when my friend the mechanic since 1970 says something you listen without questioning.....
Ps I have a CB350...... I am pretty sure it has tubes too.....

Very true. I slide all over the place on my 450, so I might have to address the tires. My top end may just have ate shit, so I’ll have to deal with that first.

I'm intrigued not so much by their tubiness (since our 2000 Nissan Patrol ute also uses them) but by the fact they appear to have been made by Campagnolo...a company far better known for its bicycle parts.

It doesn’t have half a pound of lead clipped to the rim for balance?

Luckily no.....

That is an interesting question. When they went to balance them, they decided not to because the didn’t trust that they could remove the center logo to put it on the balancer without destroying it. Hopefully I can find my old bubble balancer.....

My 76 Triumph also runs tubes but did have radials originally.

That’s interesting, I don’t think tubes precluded radials. As an example I seem to recall my Michelin X’s had tubes. But that was nearly 40 years ago,,,,

I replaced them with reproductions from universal vintage tire but despite being who- knows- how- old, possibly from the 80s they actually didn’t look too bad.
